The Convergys call center operation in Rio Rancho is expanding and hiring more employees.

Gov. Susana Martinez made the announcement at the company’s location at 6090 Zenith Ct. NE on Tuesday, where the words “now hiring” are now posted on its sign. Several employees gathered for a public announcement on Tuesday about the new jobs, including Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull.

“We work very hard to make sure that announcements like this happen regularly,” said Hull at the event. “The decision to expand your Rio Rancho operations here is another reason New Mexico is great — a place with a qualified workforce with access to higher education. We certainly are very appreciative.”

Convergys recently bought Stream, another large call center provider, and now has 125,000 employees in 30 countries. And another call center operation, S&P Data LLC, is expected to bring hundreds of jobs over the next few years to new Rio Rancho as well.
