Hull Statement on Jim Ellison Run for Treasurer

March 12, 2026

RIO RANCHO, New Mexico – Gregg Hull, Republican candidate for Governor of New Mexico, today issued the following statement after Jim Ellison announced he would suspend his campaign for governor and instead seek the Republican nomination for State Treasurer.

“Jim Ellison ran a spirited campaign for governor and brought an important voice to the conversation about New Mexico’s future. Campaigns require tremendous dedication, and I appreciate the effort he put into presenting his ideas to Republican voters across our state.

“Jim has also spent years serving New Mexico with integrity and a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility. That experience makes him well qualified to serve as our next State Treasurer.

“I support Jim Ellison’s campaign for State Treasurer and look forward to working with him to bring stronger financial stewardship and conservative leadership to Santa Fe.”

Hull currently serves as Mayor of Rio Rancho and is seeking the Republican nomination for Governor. At the New Mexico Republican Party Pre-Primary Convention this past weekend, Hull earned 56.9% of the delegate vote, emerging as the clear frontrunner in the race and building strong momentum heading toward the June primary election.
