After 12 years of service as Mayor of Rio Rancho, Gregg Hull announced today that he will not seek another term as Mayor. With Election Day set for March 6, 2026, this decision clears the way for a new leader to take office following the election.
Mayor Hull was first elected in April 2014 and has led the city through three four-year terms. Over his tenure Mayor Hull has focused on infrastructure, quality of life, and fiscal responsibility, leaving a lasting legacy for residents of Rio Rancho.
Some of Hull’s Major Accomplishments
Mayor Hull said, “Serving the people of Rio Rancho these past twelve years has been a privilege. We’ve tackled big challenges together, made progress on our infrastructure, built places where families and seniors feel at home, and set our city up for long-term success. I am thankful for the team effort in this great city to bring about needed changes and renewed long-term vision. Now, I believe it is time for fresh energy and new leadership to carry the city forward while I shift my focus on running for Governor of New Mexico.”
He emphasized that although he will continue to serve out his current term, he will not file for re-election. The March 6, 2026 election will determine the next Mayor of Rio Rancho, and the new mayor is expected to assume duties following the election.
Mayor Hull thanks his family, city staff, council members and all Rio Rancho residents for their support and collaboration over the years. He pledged his continued commitment through the remainder of his term to work for the community’s best interests.
