Cybersecurity is no longer just an IT issue—it’s a public safety and economic security issue.
I appreciated the opportunity to attend the Secure NM Legislative Forum on Cybersecurity and Business to discuss the growing threats facing our state.
The facts are clear: cyberattacks are becoming more frequent and more sophisticated, costing New Mexico millions in ransomware, fraud, and security breaches. Yet our state ranks last in the nation for cybersecurity and IT salaries, making it harder to recruit and retain the talent needed to protect our communities.
As Governor, I will support strategic investments in our cybersecurity infrastructure, strengthen partnerships across the public and private sectors, and work to build a talented workforce that can keep New Mexico safe in an increasingly digital world.
Protecting New Mexico means preparing for the threats of tomorrow—not just responding to them after they’ve happened.
