Today we bid farewell to a New Mexico legend, I had the honor of joining family, friends, and countless New Mexicans in saying goodbye to Al Hurricane Jr..

Al Jr. carried on a remarkable musical legacy that helped define New Mexico’s unique culture and sound. More importantly, he was a kind and genuine person who brought joy to so many through his music and his love for our state.

As we reflect on his life and contributions, we celebrate the memories he created and the impact he made on generations of New Mexicans.

I was honored to know him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who loved him. May he rest in peace.
