Hull Leads Republican Primary Field In New Emerson College Poll

Rio Rancho Mayor Holds More Than Double the Support of Nearest Competitor

SANTE FE, New Mexico — A new Emerson College Polling/KRQE News 13 survey of New Mexico likely Republican primary voters shows Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull leading the GOP gubernatorial field with 21% support — more than double that of his nearest competitor, former New Mexico cabinet secretary Duke Rodriguez at 10%, and former New Mexico Judicial Standards Commission Chair Doug Turner at 9%.

The poll, conducted April 18-19 among 436 likely Republican primary voters, confirms Hull as the clear frontrunner in the June 3 primary with the largest committed base of support in the race and a commanding lead over the rest of the field.

“This poll confirms what we’re hearing at every stop across New Mexico — voters are ready for new leadership, and our campaign has the momentum to deliver it,” said Mayor Gregg Hull. “We’re going to keep earning the support of Republican voters and every New Mexican who’s tired of the status quo in Santa Fe.”

The survey also found that healthcare and the economy top the list of concerns for New Mexico primary voters at 23% each, followed by crime at 17% — issues that sit at the center of Hull’s campaign platform. One in two likely voters (50%) say they feel less safe today than they did a year ago, and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s approval rating stands at just 40%.

“Gregg Hull is the only candidate in this race with the record, the vision, and the organization to take on the Democrat nominee in November,” said Hull GC/communications director Ryan Saylor.

The Emerson College Polling/KRQE News 13 survey was conducted April 18-19, 2026. The Republican primary subsample includes n=436 likely primary voters with a credibility interval of ±4.7%.
